5 great comedy movies to watch on Christmas Eve

If you’re looking for a laugh this Christmas, there are plenty of Christmas comedies to get you in the holiday spirit. But you’re a busy person with presents to open and parties to host, so you don’t want to waste your time scrolling the streaming services to find a comedy to watch. You want to cut to the chase! We’re here to help you do that by highlighting five great comedy movies to watch this Christmas.
Nick Perry is a freelance writer who bounced from Hollywood to Silicon Beach to pajama pants. His work has been featured on Digital Trends, Good Morning America, Entrepreneur, Mashable, and more media outlets. The landscape of fantasy movies on Netflix is so bleak that it doesn’t have have its own tab under the movie section. You’ll have to do a manual search if you want fantasy films, and there just aren’t that many to be found. The good news is that Netflix has added a genuinely great fantasy movie this month called Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves. Unfortunately, it didn’t do big numbers at the box office and a sequel for this terrific movie is unlikely to come together. Netflix has also recently released the animated movie, The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep, which is a spinoff from The Witcher series. Those are the only two films since January that truly belong among the best fantasy movies on Netflix, and we’re hoping they won’t be an anomaly in the streamer’s future plans. Netflix badly needs more fantasy flicks, and simply swapping out The Scorpion King for Conan the Barbarian just isn’t going to cut it anymore.
Netflix has never said that its primary focus is on modern movies, but it’s hard to think otherwise when there are only a handful of films from the ’70s and ’80s. There are more options from the ’90s, but even those films are limited.
The selection of classic movies on Netflix is also in a constant state of flux. This month’s top choice, Goodfellas, is only sticking around through May 31. The others, including Psycho, The Breakfast Club, and Field of Dreams, will all be on Netflix for at least part of the month in June. You can find those films and more among the best classic movies on Netflix right now.
Spring has sprung, love is in the air, and the best romantic comedies on Netflix right now are calling your name! This massive library of sap and laughs is a bit of a behemoth, however, and there are many titles that probably aren’t worth your time. That’s where we come in. We’ve scoured the collection to identify the best options and surface them in this tidy list.
This May, it’s a small but mighty update as popular studio hits Crazy, Stupid, Love and Trainwreck land on the platform. Read on for the best romantic comedies on Netflix right now.
