Look … up in the sky. It’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s … Black Adam? That’s right, everyone’s favorite millennia-old anti-hero from Kahndaq appeared for the first time ever on the big screen this past October, and dozens of fans across the world were aglow with delight. Before you can ask yourself “Who asked for this?,” just remember that this is the latest DCEU movie and, as such, it’s yet another corporate product designed to sell toys instead of, you know, being entertaining. We must admit that the movie does have its fans, and the curious masses who didn’t watch it in the theater are bound to look for it when it hits streaming. But when does Black Adam become available to watch at home? If you want to see The Rock fight tons of CGI villains, deliver his signature raised eyebrow trick, and try to create a franchise out of subpar material, head to HBO Max to begin streaming. Launched in 2020, HBO Max offers programs from its signature brands, such as HBO, Cartoon Network, and Warner Bros. Legacy shows like The Sopranos, The Wire, Succession, and Game of Thrones can all be watched on the service as well as current movies like The Batman. And original programming, like Hacks and The Flight Attendant, exists under “Max Originals.” In 2023, HBO Max and Discovery+ will consolidate into one platform after the merger between WarnerMedia and Discovery. Black Adam is now streaming on HBO Max.
To access HBO Max, subscribers can choose between a plan with ads and a plan without ads. With ads, HBO Max costs $10 a month or $100 a month. Without ads, HBO Max costs $15 a month or $150 a year. HBO Max is also offering a special Black Friday deal for new and returning subscribers, who can access HBO Max with ads at a discounted rate of $2 per month for the first three months. This special offer ends November 28. Cable TV subscribers can watch National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation for free on TNT and TBS. Without cable, the film is available through live TV platforms like Hulu + Live TV and Sling TV. Hulu + Live TV costs $70 per month, but that price will increase to $75 per month starting December 8, 2022. Sling TV offers two basic packages: Orange and Blue. Separately, those packages cost $35 per month and they cost $50 if purchased together. Those rates will increase to $40 each or $55 together starting December 3, 2022. Extra Sling channels will cost anywhere from $3 to $11. Only if you set your expectations really low. It’s not a horrible movie like Morbius, but it sure is bland and colorless. The Rock does what he usually does in a movie, which is to say not that much. The movie uses a lot of slow motion in its fight scenes, which drags down the action. And the ending is a bit of a letdown. What’s good about the movie is pretty much everything else that isn’t related to Black Adam and his routine storyline. Any time the Justice Society of America comes on the screen, the movie comes alive. It makes you wish they had a movie of their own, with former James Bond Pierce Brosnan and Aldis Hodge standing out as Dr. Fate and Hawkman, respectively. On Rotten Tomatoes, Black Adam registers 39% on the Tomatometer and an 89% audience score. Stream Black Adam on HBO Max now.
It’s “Big Monday” in college basketball, and with a name like that, there must be a gigantic game. Luckily, the phrase holds true, as the Houston Cougars (23-4) travel to Lubbock to face the Texas Tech Red Raiders (21-6). Both teams are peaking at the right time and enter the game ranked inside the top 10. Texas Tech is one of the few teams to beat Houston, as the Red Raiders pulled off a one-point overtime victory over the Cougars on February 1.
Since the Texas Tech loss, Houston has won six consecutive games, including Saturday’s 68-69 win over Iowa State. The Cougars are relentless on the defensive end and will give teams trouble in March. Speaking of the Red Raiders, Grant McCasland will have Texas Tech in the NCAA Tournament for the second consecutive season.

It’s all about the actors at the 2025 SAG Awards on Sunday night. The SAG Awards are voted on by SAG-AFTRA — Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists. That means you will not see any awards dedicated to writers, directors, or producers. Only actors and stunt ensembles will be awarded tonight. The SAG Awards are the last precursor to the 2025 Oscars. Many of the Oscar races could be over by the end of tonight. If Anora wins Outstanding Cast, it will take a miracle to dethrone it at the Oscars. Speaking of Anora, Mikey Madison could take the lead over Demi Moore for Best Actress. Television categories will also be awarded, though Shōgun is expected to dominate. Jane Fonda will also become the 60th recipient of the SAG Life Achievement Award. What’s better than a Big East showdown at the Mecca? Liam McNeeley and the UConn Huskies (18-8) head to the Garden to play RJ Luis Jr. and the No. 10 St. John’s Red Storm (23-4). These two rivals squared off a few weeks ago at Gampel Pavilion. Luis scored 21 points, and his running mate, Kadary Richmond, scored 13 in St. John’s impressive 68-62 victory.
UConn is the two-time defending national champions, but they haven’t played up to that level all season. McNeely is one of the most talented freshmen in the country. However, the lack of leadership at the point guard position is jarring and could lead to an early exit for the Huskies from the tournament. Meanwhile, it’s been a magical year for Rick Pitino at St. John’s. The Hall of Fame coach will have the Red Storm in the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2018–19.
