Not me, and certainly not my coonhound, Ruger. Smartly, Chevy looked to the middle of the market and decided throw us regular types a bone with this, the 2015 Chevrolet Silverado Custom. Starting at $33,820 … or $37,800 for the 4×4 it’s the truck you want for a price you can afford. For that money, you get the essentials, with a couple extra tricks kicked in for good measure. A 355-horspower, 5.3-liter V8, which also happens to be the most efficient V8 in a pickup? You bet. Chrome? Heaps of it. The Custom comes with 20-inch aluminum wheels, chrome bumpers, a body-colored top cap above the front bumper, and chrome mirror caps and door handles. Plus it has four doors, freedom-loving cloth seats, tilt steering wheel, cruise control, power windows and door locks, and Chevy MyLink with 4G LTE Wi-Fi. Oh and I guess I should mention, if you’re not singing the V8 tune, Chevy will sell you a Silverado Custom with the torquiest standard six-cylinder in a truck, the 4.3-liter EcoTec3 V6. So there’s that. Champing at the bit to get ahold of this American beauty? Chevy dealers will be stocking them this month. With summer more than halfway over, new-car debuts are about to start happening in rapid succession. The transition from summer to fall brings California’s Monterey Car Week and IAA Mobility, the first of the season’s major auto shows, in Munich, Germany. This week, we got first teases of some of the major EV debuts at those events. Anyone who’s spent any time in central London can’t have failed to notice the number of supercars and other luxury vehicles cruising the streets, particularly around the glitzy shops and hotels of the capital city’s bustling West End district. In a desperate effort to be noticed, many of the owners drive their motors loudly or at high speed, and London’s Metropolitan Police has had enough. Tesla has shared a time-lapse video showing one of its vehicles in Full Self-driving mode traveling some 360 miles from San Francisco to LA seemingly without any human intervention. The drive (below), which ordinarily takes up to seven hours, also included a stop at a Supercharger station to replenish the car’s battery.
